Biography

Michael was born and raised on the island of Saipan, capital of the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (“CNMI”) , and moved to Idaho to attend college at Boise State University (“BSU”). During his time at BSU, Michael was a founding member of a student group, Men of Vision, established to promote the involvement of minority students on campus, and he played club volleyball for the Boise State Men’s volleyball team. Throughout college and beyond, Michael coached High School and Club Volleyball at Kuna high School and South Junior High. After graduating from BSU in 2011 with a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Michael became a juvenile probation officer with Ada County, the largest county in Idaho. From 2011-2017, Michael worked one-on-one with at-risk youth, families, schools and the numerous service providers in the area to address criminogenic risk factors and monitor court compliance. During his time with Ada County Juvenile Probation, Michael was integral in establishing a new juvenile criminogenic risk assessment tool, the introduction of the iCourt e-filing process in the juvenile system, and the probation’s G.E.D program. Additionally, Michael was a field training officer, assigned to supervise and train new juvenile probation officers in Ada County.

Michael graduated from the University of Idaho College of Law in 2020. During his time in the University of Idaho, Michael was on the Deans lists for multiple semesters and was a managing editor for the Idaho Critical Legal Studies Journal. Michael wrote a paper proposing a domestic policy to address greenhouse gas emission that could withstand international scrutiny, which won an award with Idaho State Bar’s Business and Corporate law section. During his first year of law school, Michael interned with the firm Torres Bothers, LLC, who practice throughout the CNMI and the territory of Guam. During his second year, Michael interned with the Ada County Prosecutor’s Civil Division where he drafted and reviewed contracts from the various county entities and advised county officials regarding compliance with Idaho and County code. Michael was also involved in the University of Idaho’s Entrepreneurship Law Clinic where he provided legal assistance to small businesses throughout Idaho in the area of trademark registration, contract drafting, and business entity-formation.

Before joining Powers Farley, Michael practiced insurance defense as an associate attorney at a Boise law firm. He also has experience representing both individuals and businesses in a range of complex legal matters, including business formation, estate disputes, personal injury claims, and contract litigation.

Michael is admitted to the Idaho State Bar and the United States District Court for the District of Idaho.
